5 essential ingredients every newbie in personal development needs

Personal development is something you need to start doing, but what are some skills you need to have before you can start with the transformation which personal development will give you? So let’s see what the top 5 ingredients are that you need in order to get started with personal development.

1. Determination

The first of the 5 ingredients in order to get started with personal development is by having a strong determination. What do I mean with this? You have a lot of people who shout that they want to have success or you name it. Once a hardship strikes them, they quit immediately and tell that it was not meant for them.

Most of the time it is because they were not determined enough to keep going. I have been through these things myself. Having a new goal and getting excited and after something bad happened just quitting it immediately. This simply means that you are not determined enough to achieve the goal which you have set.

The first ingredient is to find something which you truly love from the bottom of your heart. What is it that you will continue doing even if hardships strike you. Whatever you choose to do, nothing will come from doing nothing. Hardships will come, but they will also fade away. This will only fade away if you are determined enough to go on with what you chose to do.

Be determined to achieve what you have planned to achieve.

2. What is your plan?

So you found something that you are determined to achieve. Well, good job my friend. The first step is done. Now it is very good that you know what you want to achieve, but a goal without a plan is just a goal. So the next step is to start planning how you want to achieve what you want to achieve.

When I finally found the thing which I liked the most, I really had no clue what I wanted to achieve with the goal I chose. I did not have a plan. The only thing I had was that I wanted to become an amazing programmer. I was really determined to achieve this goal but had no clue where I needed to start.

The job for you is to do research. Research about what you can become when you have achieved the goal that you had in mind. Once you know this, you can start choosing what you would love to become. So I picked my dream job, but I still have no clue what I need to do in order to become what I want to become. Now it is time to do reverse engineering.

Try to figure out what skills companies are looking for when they are looking for a new candidate to full-fill your dream job. Once you know this, you can start learning the skills you need in order to become a candidate for future employers.

3. Self-confidence

If you feel like you are not good enough for things you want to achieve, then please stop this right now. For the once who don’t have much self-confidence, I want to ask you how many times did you even try starting with achieving the goal you have in mind? Maybe you have started, but you eventually stopped because somebody told you that you are not made for the job or all the other nonsense you can think of.

Leave all these things to one side. You can do it. Really. If you truly want this, then you are more than able to do it. Stop doubting your own skills. Look at yourself in the mirror and smile.

Well, how do you develop more self-confidence? First of all, delete all negativity out of your life. Before I build up much more self-confidence, I had to put aside everything people said about me. People will keep talking about you even if you are doing good. So why bother. Reflect on yourself. Don’t let people tell you what you are capable of. Start building up your self-confidence. If you want to be better than you are today, you need to be able to think positive about who you are and what you can do.

4. Know yourself

Once you have built up more self-confidence than it is time to know yourself better. Actually, this comes naturally when you start working on your goals and everything. Try to reflect on yourself and see what you are not very good at and what you can better in order to be a better you.

Know yourself better than anything else.

Things you need to know about yourself are things like:

  • What am I good at?
  • What can I better?
  • Why do I want to achieve what I want to achieve?
  • What do I like to do?
  • What have I been doing over the past few years?
  • What would I love to change and why?

Start learning more about yourself. Who am I? Not what do people think about me? As I said before, you can never please people. You can do it, but it is a waste of time.

5. Why are you doing what you are doing?

Did you ever thought of achieving something, but you really did not know why you wanted to achieve it? This is not correct. I have had this problem also. I can tell you that if you have a goal in mind, but you don’t know why you are doing it, then you will quit faster when hardships arrive.

Make your goals personal. Give them a place into your heart and try to figure out why you want to achieve what you want to achieve. Most of the people will tell: “Because I want to make money!”. This is perfectly fine, but that should not be the thing you want to build upon.

Try to think about things that will change, not only for you but also for the people who you care about when you achieve your goal. This way you will make your goal something personal. You will bind some emotion to your goals and that is something you want. When you think about the things you want to achieve you need to feel it from the bottom of your heart.
