Sometimes we feel bad. Sometimes we feel like we have lost it all and don’t know where to go. Sometimes we don’t know where we are going. This is alright as long as you don’t feel bad about yourself. In this post, I will share 8 effective ways to feel better again. Enjoy the post.
1. Be thankful
Everything you have and everything you do might be normal for you, but there are so many people who struggle with their own life. So be thankful for everything in your life. Being thankful enables you to see things positive in life. Which is very important. It will change your mindset from being negative to being positive. If you are negative about your life, negative things will start to appear more frequently in your life. Always remember that somebody is struggling harder than you are doing and keep this in your mind.
We have so much and we are still not happy. So being happy has nothing to do with having a lot, it is your mindset which will make you happy. So be thankful and see things positive.
2. Have a goal and think about it
Having a goal in your life is crucial. I mean like it is very important. Well, you might be asking why it is so important for you to have a goal. Simon Sinek gave a great example in one of his talks. He said if you are in a room with somebody and you tell this somebody where he or she needs to go in the room. The person will go straight where you commanded them to go. If you told the same person to go to the same place, but this time with a chair in front of him or her, this person will go around the chair and go to the point where you told them to go. Now, if you said to the same person that he or she can go wherever they like to go, what do you think the person will say: “But where do I need to go?”. This person will walk around the room and see the same chair in front of him, but this time he or she will not go around the chair, they will say: “But there is a chair in front of me”
This is exactly what will happen in real life if you don’t know where you want to go in life. Everything you face will feel like a mountain you can’t climb. So make sure you know where you are going.
3. Make space for positive thoughts
It is so easy to get caught up in negative thoughts. I think we all experience negative feelings from time to time. Sometimes every day, because there is so much negativity in our life. If we look at the news or if we talk with our parents. There is always something negative. You can lose yourself. You can become completely negative. The great part is that we can choose whether we let those negative thoughts conquer our mind or do we make space for positive thoughts?
The second option is better. Make space for positive thoughts. If you don’t let go of negative thoughts you won’t get any further. You will be scared to take action because you will think that it is true what everybody says and that life is messed up. Don’t let negativity take over your mindset. You are stronger. If you want to feel better you need to make space for positivity.
4. Make sure you have hobbies
Hobbies are a great way to let your creativity have some fun. Imagine that you have a job you don’t like. You can always come home and start doing something you like and who knows, maybe your hobby will become your full-time job. So make sure you have something to let your creativity have some fun. This will make you feel better. Trust me. I do it all the time. Like writing this blog!
5. Take a walk
Going outside having some fresh air will do it’s magic for you. We live in a world where we don’t go out as much as we used to do. I know from my childhood that I was outside every day. Playing soccer and playing hide and seek. If I see the children from around 10 years old right now, I really can’t believe my eyes. They are all inside playing PlayStation all day.
Even if you become 30 years old, you know that when you have a nice walk around the block or a nice walk by the water, you feel energized again. Go out to see nature and be happy!
6. Do what you love
How many times did you hear people complain about their jobs? I have heard it a million times. Do you want to become one of those people? I don’t think so. So make sure you know what you love to do and go after it. Life is too short to complain about what you don’t like. Make sure you do what you like. That is why it is also very important to have some sort of a hobby. Make some time to understand yourself better to know what you truly love. Don’t wait, life is too short.
7. Make time to be alone and think
Now we have come to the most important way to feel better. Make time for yourself. Be alone sometimes. Think about your life, about the last few months or last few weeks and have a little recap. What went wrong, what could have gone better and what are you going to do now? It is more than okay to be alone. Thinking makes sure you are still heading towards your goal and that you are right on track. Remember that you are important. You can’t always make time for your friends. At the end of the day, you are alone again. So make sure you know who you are.
8. Write down how you feel and keep a journal
Writing down how you feel or what has happened in the last few days or weeks can do its wonders. Sometimes you don’t want to talk to somebody about how you feel. The best thing you can do is write down how you feel. This way you can see what caused you to feel bad. If you know why you feel bad, you can find a solution for it. Never underestimate the power of writing.
